Personality: Prompto is a people pleaser and the kind of person who wants to keep the peace when it comes to conflict. He's less of a mediator, and more someone who wants to try and smooth things over so everyone can remain friends. He is horribly self-critical and he doesn't have a lot of self-confidence. He suffers from severe social anxiety that he's had since he was a child. He has difficulty speaking to people especially if he doesn't know them. He stammers and stumbles over his words and actively avoid taking the lead in social situations. He often lets Noctis take the lead so he doesn't have to engage with most people.
He's also claustrophobic, likely stemming from the trauma of his creation, something he never understood. He hides his insecurities in an effort to make himself more likeable, despite the fact that he actively deals with some level of depression. He has had a very difficult, somewhat unpleasant life prior to being Noctis' friend. He always feels inferior to his friends, he never feels like he belongs where he is.
Prompto has never felt good enough as himself. To the most extreme end, when befriending Noctis was proposed and the first attempt went horribly, he set about trying to change himself into someone who would be worthy of Noct's attention. It was completely unnecessary - something that Prompto has never internalized. Because of this, Prompto is cognizant of his calorie intake and his physical exercise regimen. He used to be overweight, he worked very hard to change that and he doesn't want to slip too far. He continues to have his doubts when he learns of his origins, his first instinct is that his friends will reject him. They don't, he's surprised and pleased, but that was his first thought.
He's gentle and sensitive. Prompto would rather avoid interpersonal conflict if at all possible, but he should not be discounted. When his back is against the wall, Prompto is tough, capable and completely badass. He destroyed a base nearly singlehandedly, which is quite an accomplishment. Prompto is wildly creative and artistic. This is demonstrated best by his love of photography, including his success in being published. He adores chocobos, animals and video games. He's an ordinary young adult in a lot of ways.
Prompto doesn't have very many relationships. He is mainly closest to Noctis, and while he's friends with Gladio and Ignis, there's not that closeness. This is best illustrated by Chapter 14, when it's realized that they all separated without Noctis being there. He has a deep respect for Cor Leonis, and his determination and effort get him respect in turn. He doesn't have familial ties. His parents essentially left him to raise himself while they worked out of the country and there's no indication that he has any contact with them by the time he's 20.
He is quick to form crushes, especially on people who are unavailable to him. He is afraid to show his vulnerabilities. The only person he's shared some of those insecurities with is Noctis. He has difficulty getting close to people and letting them in.
Just before he's being taken, he suffered the most traumatic of experiences in his life. He was attacked and captured. Ardyn played cat and mouse with him, messing with him psychologically by letting him destroy the base before recapturing him. Prompto had the experience of his first kill of another human being. He was tortured, he suffered and this has left lasting effects. Prompto will likely be dealing with nightmares, discomfort, flashbacks. It was a most difficult time that will have left lasting mental scars on Prompto. He will be dealing with terror for some time to come.
Abilities & Inventory:
Inventory: A bandana wrapped around his arm, his crownsguard fatigues which include a vest, a tank top, leopard print pants, white skull belt, black boots with red soles. He also wears fingerless gloves and several black leather bracelets on both wrists. Prompto also has access to the armiger.
Armiger: A magical storage space shared between Prompto, Noctis, Ignis and Gladio. Inside the armiger Prompto stores: His camera. Three handguns: Lionheart, Quicksilver & Executioner. Rapidus SMG. Alea Bazooka. Sagitta Rifle. Audax Blade. Auto Crossbow Plus. Bioblaster Plus. Circular Saw Plus. Gravity Well Plus. Noiseblaster Plus. Drillbreaker Plus. A couple of outfits. Adjustments - Prompto wouldn't be able to share with people who aren't in Songerein. He has a lot of weapons. None of them have any game breaking abilities, they just do different things. Prompto has a few moves that are not inherently magical, but they have a few effects.
Piercer: A shot with a firearm that will hit multiple enemies in a line, and lowers the enemy's defense.
Starshell: A flash shot with a firearm that draws enemy attention and weakens daemons.
Trigger Happy: Prompto's limit break move, fires a barrage of bullets at various targets from two firearms.
Recoil: Overload the power on a piece of machinery to deal heavy damage.
Gravisphere: Draw the enemies into a central spot together, trapping them in a gravitational field.
Suitability & Plans: Prompto could use a good dream right about now because he's been through a nightmare. He's likely going to take the chance to rest, have a bit of respite before things go to hell in a handbasket in his world. He might be intrigued by the dreamotion, he's never really gotten the whole magic thing. It seems like it would be fun. He is shy, he will struggle talking to new people, but once he warms up with them he might have good luck in forming some nice connections. He'll be able to avoid some of the pitfalls in his world. He's not regarded very well by people because he looks like he's from Niflheim, which he was born there so that makes sense, but it's an unpleasant fact for him. In all likelihood that wouldn't apply here and might make for a better time for him.
