Character Name: Prompto Argentum
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV
Character History: Wiki Link
*Prompto was created in a lab as a clone of a man named Verstael Besithia, although his cells have been modified and changed, so he would not be an exact clone.
*He was created in Niflheim with the intent of making him an MT (a magitek soldier) for the Empire. At some point during this time, a barcode was tattooed onto his wrist with MT technology.
*At some point, he was stolen by a member of the Lucian army as a specimen. His exact age is unspecified.
*He was given to the Argentum family to be raised as a Lucian citizen. It is unknown if they were the ones who rescued him - but it is unlikely.
*His adoptive parents neglected to take care of Prompto, leaving him to his own devices and essentially to raise himself. He used money that he was given and tended to eat out daily because he didn’t know how to prepare his own food. By the time he was roughly eight, he was fairly overweight for his age.
*Prompto did not grow up with any friends. He befriends a wounded dog and takes care of her, and when the dog returns to her master - Lunafreya Nox Fleuret - she writes him a letter, thanking him for his kindness and encouraging him to be kind to the prince, his classmate, Noctis Lucis Caelum.
*Painfully shy and overweight, he decides after one encounter, he can’t befriend the prince in this state and spends the next several years taking up running and dieting until he’s within what he considers to be an average weight range. At 15, he reintroduces himself to Noctis who accepts him as a friend almost immediately.
*Sometime between finishing high school (18) and the start of the game (20) he joins the Crownsguard at Noctis’ request, so he can escort his friend to Altissia, for his wedding.
*He is with Noctis, Gladiolus and Ignis when Lucis falls in their wake and the mission changes from getting him to his wedding, to reclaiming the throne for Lucis. He assists his best friend anyway he can as they collect the royal arms to take down the empire, and regain the lost crystal stolen from the city of Insomnia.
*After arriving in Altissia, and the botched attempted wedding of Noctis and Lucis, they board a train to Tennebrae. The main antagonist, Chancellor Ardyn Izunia arrives and causes Noctis to see a distorted present where he believes Prompto is Ardyn. This causes a fight to break out between the two, ending with Prompto being thrown from the moving train, into the wilderness alone.
*Prompto walks for several days in an arctic outland of the empire, and is nearly completely frostbitten before he is captured by the empire’s MT units. He awakens in a facility, known as the first magitek production facility. Ardyn taunts him, implying that it is his birthplace and he’s finally been reunited with his home.
*During his attempt to escape, he finds more information, likely carefully left around by his captor, which specifies his origins, and later kidnapping by the Lucian military. Prompto encounters his maker, but is forced to kill him to save himself.
*He escapes that facility and helps destroy a nearby base, regardless of his struggles over what he’s learned and leaves the area on a snowmobile, stolen from the empire. He heads for Gralea.
*Prompto does not make it to Gralea. He is captured at some unspecified time during his escape and brought to Zegnautus Keep as a hostage for Noctis. During this time, Prompto is tortured and tormented by Ardyn Izunia.
*Upon his rescue, he reveals to his friends that Niflheim is his birthplace, and the origin of his barcode. They access the crystal, and Noctis disappears to prepare himself for the final fight.
*What follows is a 10 year time gap, during which Prompto hunts daemons, mostly alone, and lingers around Hammerhead. He has little contact with Ignis and Gladio. He’s thought to be trying to impress Cindy, but she doesn’t seem to take much note of him. He works to protect the people from the daemons during this constant night. He occasionally visits Lestallum.
*Noctis returns after 10 years and they reunite. Noctis is ready to take his role as King and they transform from Crownsguard to Kingsglaive (as far as uniforms and roles go), and Prompto escorts him into Insomnia. The responsibility of dealing with the aftermath is left in his hands, as well as Ignis’ and Gladio’s.
Character Personality:
Prompto comes across as a sweet, cheerful, playful guy when he’s comfortable with his friends. He can be witty, and often makes jokes and engages in banter. Outside of his friends, he’s incredibly shy and has a high level of social anxiety. He has always been shy, finding it difficult to speak to people, finding difficulty in connecting with people, and when he’s nervous he tends to stutter. When attempting to talk to Cindy, who he likes from afar, any comment that is attempting beyond something innocuous and impersonal, leaves him stuttering and unable to speak.
He enjoys photography as his favoured hobby, is a technophile, and he really really likes chocobos. He has a soft spot for all animals, and cares deeply about helping them if they are somehow hurt and in distress. He has, for years, been focused on his weight and was sticking to a strict diet that involved a lot of running. He enjoys running, and unlike Noctis, doesn’t mind vegetables and salad. This is because he was overweight as child and struggled for years to get down to a standard weight for someone his age.
Prompto is incredibly insecure, and desperately tries not to show it. He tends to take the focus off of himself in conversations, rather choosing to focus on the other person, or regaling with tales of his friends. In a one on one conversation, even with his friends, when his nerves begin he has difficulty speaking. Since childhood, he’s felt at times like he’s worthless, likely stemming from the fact he had always been alone, his adoptive parents held no role in his life and he was unable to speak and connect to people. He describes himself as always wanting friends, and getting them meant he needed to do everything to keep them at his side, because he’s afraid one day they’ll realize they don’t want him. He confesses to Noctis that he feels inferior, because he has no title, and they are stronger than he is, in his eyes. At times he can forget all of this, but he remembers it and feels like he doesn’t belong. He says it hits him like a splash of cold water. He describes himself as wanting to belong, and feeling desperation to earn his place. He considers this to mean he is a ‘mess of hang ups’.
Prompto does not like bugs, and describes himself as claustrophobic. He is very secretive about his origin, even when he didn’t understand exactly why he needed to be, but he took great pains to conceal the barcode tattooed on his arm. He is terrified of being discovered because he can’t explain it; and when he can explain it, he’s afraid possible rejection from those around him. The revelations feed into his anxiety and lack of confidence, and leave him with a strong sense of depression, and suicidal ideation, but ultimately abandons that in favour of his loyalty and trust in his friends to accept him for who he is, and more importantly, hope that they will.
He is incredibly loyal to Noctis. They have been best friends for five years, he put himself into the Crownsguard if only to be useful to his friend so he didn’t lose him. He rarely treats him with reverence, but Noctis appreciates his candor. He feels like he knows his best friend completely and he trusts him to be a good man and a good king. He swears, after his rescue to be ever at his side, harbouring no ill will because Noct was tricked into hurting him.
Prompto is highly affected psychologically from the torture he endured from Ardyn Izunia. He comes away from the encounter terrified, unstable physically and mentally and skittish. He finds his job more difficult to do because he empathizes with the MTs that he encounters, comparing himself to them because it could have been him. He has a falling out with Gladio and Ignis after Noctis has gone, preferring instead to be alone. After the ten year jump, he still appears skittish, greeting Noctis with only a distanced arm punch. In that time he has not found the ability to be direct with Cindy either, another indication that his mental state deteriorates after the incidents.
Powers and Abilities:
He exhibits at this point, excellent physical fitness. He’s been running consistently for over ten years. He’s built up significant muscle. He’s proficient in firearms, and tends to operate with a gun that’s tied to Noctis’ armiger, as his Crownsguard weapon. He is skilled at finding openings in his enemy’s armor.
Prompto can use any firearm given to him, despite prior experience, including heavy arsenal. He’s strong enough to resist any kickback or recoil. He’s also proficient at using a knife in melee combat situations.
He has had standard Crownsguard training, and understands how to operate in a military-esque situation, despite his self-perceived shortcomings. He has survival skills and combat training.

Hey!
I’ve totally been thinking that this place is really freaky, like being in some kind of science fiction movie or something. All that’s missing is the spaceships and the ray guns and zooming around in the sky.
Okay, I guess it’s not like a sci-fi movie, but some weird fantasy movie maybe. I’ve gotta say though, whoa, this magic is cool! Illuminate!
Anyway, since that totally didn’t work, anyone got any tips on making that happen?
All this place needs now is chocobos!
Third Person:
He awoke in the night and reality came crashing down on him. He jerked about in the darkness, kicking off his blankets in the process as he got to his feet. He could feel his throat constricting, the darkness was closing in on him.
He nearly tripped over a boot to get to the window, ripping it open and letting fresh air into his room.
Prompto stood at the windowsill, gasping for air as he looked out over Nautilus as dawn was beginning to happen, the sun cresting over the edge of the horizon.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
The walls were not closing in on him. The blanket did not have him restrained. He was not in Niflheim, but in Nautilus. The window was open and he was breathing. Breathing in, and breathing out.
He was safe.
Prompto wiggled his fingers and rolled his wrists to remind himself that he could and he nodded. The air was chilly, but not so chilly that he thought he was in the tundra on his way to Gralea. He was supposed to meet them in Gralea, but he didn’t make it.
No, this was not a good place for his mind to to meander to. He was not going down that road. The crisp morning air felt good in his lungs, cooling the room around him and he nodded suddenly. He wasn’t going to keep hanging on if he didn’t push himself, and that meant sitting around in his room all the time wasn’t going to be acceptable. Noctis would never have allowed it. Ignis would have tried to reason with him. Gladio would have shoved him bodily out of bed.
Prompto turned around and pulled on his clothes, lacing his boots. A run would do him good, a run would help clear his head and it would let him center himself in this new place. He glanced in the mirror and plastered a smile on. Perfect.
He took off out the welcome house and started a path, jogging at a good speed, a smile tugging at his lips. Everything was fine, because he was going to say it was until that became the truth.
